November 7, 2009 - Hanshi Manny Matias, Grand Master of World Kanreikai Karate, presided over the third edition of the Kanreikai World Karate Championship in Danbury on November 7.
For the first time, the Championship included a day competition session featuring kata, weapon kata and junior semi-knockdown fighting. Participants from the United States and Canada displayed a high level of abilities and stamina in front of their families and friends. |

The Knockdown Fighting Championship took place in the evening. Highly trained fighters from the USA, Canada, Poland and Chechnya offered a great show of skill, determination and courage to a crowd of martial arts enthusiasts. We are especially proud of Christopher Goncalves from World Kanreikai Headquarters who took the 1st place in the Men-Lightweight division.
We thank all the competitors who took part in the 2009 Kanreikai World Championship and contributed to its success. Thank you to all the instructors, judges, sponsors and volunteers without whom this Championship would not have been possible.
